Q: My family/friends sold earlier, or followed a cycle trade — what now?
The answer is the same as every 'I sold, what now': buy back at market immediately, no other answer. But the bigger lesson is — never again notify friends/family who don't watch the videos to do any maneuver (deleverage, cycle, sell); tell them only one line: 'buy when you have money, never sell.' Because you must get both the buy AND the sell right, which is nearly impossible for people who don't study; once they get off, they can never get back on (fewer than 10% of even daily viewers managed it).
In 30 seconds: First, the immediate answer: buy back at market immediately — same as every “I sold, what now,” no other answer. But the real lesson is — never again notify friends/family who don’t watch the videos to do any maneuver (no deleveraging, no cycle trades, no selling); tell them only one line: “buy when you have money, never sell.” Because you must get both the buy and the sell right, which is nearly impossible for people who don’t study; once they get off, they can never get back on. Even daily viewers who trust James — fewer than 10% managed to “sell then buy back.”1
Variants (how people actually ask)
- “Last time we did a cycle I sold my family’s position too; now the market’s up and they’re asking me what to do.”
- “I kindly told a friend to deleverage/sell, and now they can’t get back in — it’s awkward, what do I do?”
- “A relative asks me whether to sell — how should I answer?”
Why “one sell and they can’t get back in”
In 00562 a member shared his own lesson: when James walked everyone through one cycle trade, the member kindly notified the friends and family who’d trusted his “buy and never sell” advice to sell along with him. The market then rose steadily, and these people came back asking “what do we do? we didn’t buy back immediately, what now?” — leaving him both resentful and embarrassed. James’s breakdown of why:1
- You must get both ends right, and that’s extremely hard. Just “sell then buy back immediately” is a human-nature ordeal most people can’t pass — James himself took 40 years to “train away his humanity.”
- The telephone game amplifies the distortion. Passing “time to sell” through one or two people — even a fourth — might already be five days later; and these people don’t watch daily like you, so their conviction is weak. You could barely do it; how could they, through a game of telephone?
- Getting off is easy; getting back on is hard. When you later notify them “now it’s time to buy back,” they panic and short-circuit (“didn’t you say never sell? now sell and buy again?”), and in the end, once off, they can’t get back on.
The fix: to friends/family who don’t study, say only one line
James’s own practice — when relatives ask him about investing, he says only “buy with money you won’t need, and remember: never sell,” nothing else:1
- Given just that one line, they can actually do it — understanding “don’t sell” lets them ride through bull and bear regardless of volatility.
- Never tell people who don’t watch about “cycles / deleveraging / selling” — any move is a harm to those who don’t study. “Even my own siblings — I’d never tell them about cycle trades.”
- This is also “why one cycle is enough”: walking everyone through it once is meant to let you feel firsthand how hard maneuvering is, so you’ll all the more firmly confirm that “buy when you have money, never sell” is the best strategy (see trading in and out). “Learning costs tuition… knowing is enough; once is enough.”
Answer log
- 2026-04-25 (00562): A member fell into an awkward spot after notifying friends/family to sell and the market recovered. James: for family who already sold, “buy back at market immediately”; for friends who don’t watch the videos, say only “buy when you have money, never sell” — never notify them of any maneuver. The same point is printed on that week’s deck.1
⚠️ This page summarizes James’s spoken experience (his personal practice), not personalized investment advice. The core is behavioral — don’t let a “kind heads-up” push friends who don’t study off the train.
